I may jest periodically about his role, but I have to say that we owe enormous thanks to a man who has made our recordings sound as good as they do. I'm not kidding when I say he worked longer hours on this project than we did, recording everything we did, balancing and adjusting and equalizing to make it sound the way it was supposed to, occasionally arbitrating our differences of style and giving feedback when we were too tired to know what we were hearing, and his honest opinion when we needed it. Matthew Trautwein is more than our devastatingly talented and dedicated engineer; he is a lively actor, a witty performer, and tireless bandleader of the wonderful Lost Boys. There was nowhere near this kind of room to thank him on our album, but we do so here, enthusiastically and sincerely. Dude!
